Senior Photo Eva.JPG

Hi there!

My name is Eva, and I'm the Associate Editor of the weekly-printing newspaper The Tower.  I'm also the Editor-in-Chief of the annually-published art and literary magazine The Looking Glass.

Going beyond the newsroom or the borders of an InDesign template, I represented the state of Michigan as one of the fifty-one 2020 Free Spirit Scholars chosen to attend USA Today’s Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference.  My work can also be found in the Detroit Free Press from my time as a summer apprentice, as well as in various scientific journals, such as the American Chemical Society’s ACS Omega and Drug Discovery Today, from my time as a student researcher at Wayne State University (fun fact: both internships occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic!).

Aside from writing, I enjoy: getting my cardio in as I sprint across high school campuses as Science Olympiad president and varsity captain; fighting for accessible education for midwestern females as a senior fellow with The Joyce Ivy Foundation (check out my interview with WXYZ's Alicia Smith below!); and explaining to people that yes, nanobiotechnology and poetry are actually really similar.
